Remember Me

“Not neglecting- as some habitually do-to meet together, but encouraging one another, and doing this all the more since you can see the day of Christ approaching” (Hebrews 10:25 Weymouth New Testament)

Can you do me a favor, pull out your electronic device your cell phone, your IPad, your Nobi and hit camera.  There is a icon that allows you to take a picture of yourself. It’s a camera with a arrow going around it.  If you select it (go ahead) you can take what the younger generation now calls a selfie. You can capture a glimpse of the glory of God.  Go ahead look at you, at whatever age you may be exuding the glory of God. What do you see when you look at yourself?  That you are beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of God…be you male or female, adult, youth or child or a baby you add to the picture of life and love. God’s expressed glory shines through you.  God uses your gifts, talents and person to encourage others. Picture that! You remember that. We will remember that.

When you show up, when we see you, when we come together it’s important to remember that our words and actions tell others about the goodness, glory and grace of God.

When we take selfies, flood Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google with pictures of ourselves I think it’s a plea of “remember me”. It’s OK to admit we all want to be remembered for something. What will be remembered about our coming together?

If  it is true that the 3 reasons we come together to worship is to pray, praise and proclaim the Word of GOD. Our coming together should include a collage of selfies Praying, Praising and Proclaiming the Word together.  Seniors, Adults, Youth  and children exuding, expressing and experiencing  the glory of God together.

As a child I loved to play  game Memory. You remember the matching game on one-side was a constant pattern but on the other-side there were pictures. The object of the game was to correctly match the pictures. Is that why we come together? Is that what we do when we come together…image match the picture of Jesus? Is his life the constant pattern and our lives the picture of love others need to match? He did say…do this in rememberance of me. Come together and pray remembering me, praise remembering me and proclaim my Word remembering me. Impact each other purposefully and passionately.  Seniors your depiction is needed, adults, youth, children and babies our depiction is needed just the same…we exude Gods goodness, glory and grace together.  Let’s Create a Holy Disturbance that will turn the zipcode and world upside down because the day of Christ is approaching…keep coming together.

Proverbs 10:7a states “the memory of the righteous will be a blessing”. Saints of old as well as saints that are of this modern technological age…may our selfies encourage, edify and educate one another of the grace, goodness and glory of God. May others look at you and glimpse Jesus. Better yet when you look at your selfie’s may you see God’s glory, grace and goodness.    “Remember Me”.
