Contortions of a Bitter Root

God strengthens the yielded heart to live and love the obstinate, cantankerous, and rebellious. His Spirit helps us see behaviors as fruit from a bitter root. As we grow alongside other trees in the garden of life and love it is necessary to thrive in the ground of diseased, displeased, and dispensing toxins. Trust God to expose the root of rejection, entitlement, and jealosy. Trust Him to break up the follow ground of life and love and allow Him the opportunity to plant new seed.  He knows what parts of us needs to be pruned and how to excavate the treasure within. So seek to understand why your best efforts of love are being misunderstood.

It is absolutely impossible to pour new energy, enthusiasm, and effort into broken vessels.  Most of what you give them seeps out. A lot of us meet resistance when we attempt to love the hurting.  We are offset by their behavior.  We don’t understand their response and begin to feel rejected ourselves.  Before you pull back, isolate, or quit look closer…not at the fruit but consider the root.  The problem very seldom is surface stuff it is almost always deep rooted disappointment, anger, unresolved feelings of inadequacy and fear of being abandoned, overlooked, and let down when what seems like good becomes too good to be true or real.

Change is a process that very seldoms happens overnight.  God uses the earth of life and love to teach us it will not happen with oversights. We cannot pretend life and love didn’t happen before us. Nor expect them to ignore pains of old and live and love in the new way we’re prescribing without any real proof that it works. Our human nature is naturally defensive, depraved, and dark.  We expect the worst and look for the catch. We weigh everything by our past experience and potential gain or loss.  We’re not given to life and love in the Light although we were made for it.

At the very root of hopelessness is a heart that is afraid to dream again. A heart that has decided expectation is a valuable waste of time. A heart thats been disappointed, dropped and daunted one time too many. A heart that chooses if I don’t hope, expect or look for anything other than what’s in  front of me I won’t be hurt, hindered or hampered by the disappointment. People that CHOOSE to live and love from this heart posture agree to be bitter, mean, negative and faithless.

Toxic roots cannot produce life and love in the affirmative. They will not grow hope nor experience the light of a new day. Toxic roots have to be uprooted, new seed has to be planted and allowed to take root. Sometimes the earth itself has to be tilled and turned over.  It is my prayer that life and love will unearth the root of bitterness and that the Spirit of God will be allowed to severe the diseased  and dying root  then saturate the  seed of faith  so healing can take place. God keep our hearts pliable and help us forgive ourselves and each other. Restore  unto us the joy of our salvation , let restoration have it’s perfect work in our hearts and affected areas. May we surrender, submit and be sustained by your Word that tells us to forgive offence 7*70, to agree with our adversary quickly. Help us remember that we’re wrestling principalities, powers of wickedness and that we ourselves fall victim to the enemy’s influence. God may we extend grace and mercy and allow the work of the Holy Spirit it’s perfect work.  Expose the darkness to the light of your Word. Cause life and love to produce and bring forth your desire for us. I speak to the contortions of bitterness that renders life and love lame, to every fracture and deformity that affects our ability to straighten up and stand erect COME INTO ALIGNMENT,  AGREEMENT and ACCEPT the engrafted Word of God. Be what you’re called to be in Jesus name.

Shall these dry, dead roots live again? Shall the contortions of the bitter root begin to unravel in light of understanding? Shall we allow the Word of God to break up the fallow ground and bring forth new fruit? Yes, assuredly so broken, fractured, fixable relationships can be reset, repaired and restored. Hope thou in God and trust Him to remedy the contortions of a bitter heart. May bitter waters turn sweet and surround your life and love with substance, sustenance and satisfaction . May you and every root connected to you grow in grace. God do for us what we can’t do for ourselves fix life and love, make it what you desire, designed and designated it to be.
