Investments

“Early investments grow over a lifetime ” (AntTBri).

I believe in planting seeds, making deposits… interpersonal investments of time, talent and treasure.   Especially, possibly excessively in terms of our children.  It is always my hope that the seeds of love and attention will nurture a solid, stable and steadfast foundation to grow upon.  People comment all the time about my love of children and their love of me in regards to how much time, effort and attention given.  Unfortunately, it’s not always a compliment it’s more like “I don’t know how you do it, better you than me…yeah you’re good at baby sitting”. There’s a lady at my church who calls me sister daycare (now that’s funny).  Some of my friends say my love of children derives from me not having any and then there are those who surmise somebody has to do who better than a person like me. What does that even mean?

Why does there have to be a reason greater than the love of God working in and through me?  What if care giving is my gift and I’m working or walking out my purpose with each child I touch.  Better yet, is there a need for godly examples  who are willing to invest their time, talent and treasure into lives that don’t yield an immediate return? Those that critique, comment and criticize often miss the opportunity to deposit love, time, goodness, the message of hope and experiences that will stay, stick and stabilize them when life and love gets real.  Maybe it’s not for you, you don’t have the time or patience, you think it meaningless and beneath your expertise and you’re just not willing.  God has and uses people like me to make early deposits that will grow over a lifetime.  It’s the little things consistently done early on that establishes the relationship to be maintained in the future.  The real discussion is how invested are you?  Are you around for the process of life and love or is your presence impressive in stages?  Impacting life and love is a worth while investment… there’s no shame in that.  Look, live and love for the investment ~AntTBri
